Left to right: Clay Flattley, Netty Wright, Brian Smith,  Andy Spragg, Dave Tubey, Chris Brown, Darren Plenderleith
Quarter finals:

Darren Plenderleith (Sheffield) beat Brian Smith (Stretton Anglesey) 21-19
Andrew Spragg (Chesterfield) beat Ant Aldridge (Staffs)
Chris Brown (Sheffield) beat Clay Flattley (Castlefields) 21-13
Andy Cairns (Burnley!) beat Nigel Hodgkinson (Staffs)

Semi Finals:

Spragg 21 Plenderleith 12.

Spragg got away early, Darren nearly caught him up at about 10 but Spragg proved too consistent and ran out a comfortable winner.

Brown 21 Cairns 17

Chris started well and led 12-5, Andy plugged away well and got back to within 3 shots. Chris was striking well and went away to 18-13, Andy got 2 twos but palyed his first bowl too far in the corner and Chris played two excellent bowls to go 20-17 up. At the next end, Andy lay one and there looked no danger in going for two to make the game 19-20 but he overplayed by a yard and turned his own bowl out to hand Chris the game 21-17.

Final:

Spragg 21 Brown 12

An unusually one sided final with Andy going 9-0 up in 5 ends. Chris plugged away valiantly but couldn't find the form that had he had shown in his previous games. To be fair though, Andy played as well as I've seen anyone play in a final for many a year and when Chris's striking deserted him, there was only going to be one winner.

Congratulations to Dave Tubey for organising the event and also everyone involved, in raising 300 today on the raffle, making a grand total of over 800 (with money raised over last winter) which will go to Cancer Research.

Well done to all involved.
